Narritive 2

As I stood there waiting for the prize winners name to be drawn I though back to all the problems that had happened in the month leading up to this day. How could I forget it? I’m surprised that I am even standing here. The pain and suffering that I had gone through just for this one chance. People say that all great artists have suffered for their art I’m pretty sure that what I’ve been through more than qualifies. I saw the ad in the paper a fine art competition for any one in the United States. The winner would get two thousand dollars and would have and article published in more than 10 art magazines. This is what I needed in order to fulfill my dream of become an acknowledged artist. The theme of the composition was Natures Children. Since I can remember I have always loved to draw and paint. I went to art school and gained a masters degree in art education. I wasn’t able to find any jobs but I still do work of my own and sell it in order to pay my rent. My Father was a great man he paid for my education; he paid for my art materials, and supported me through out my life. My mother died when I was born and I had no siblings but my life was full of friends so I was never lonely.

I remembered that I had to get back at the task at hand and stop thinking about my life. I sat down at my drafting table and began drawing up ideas for the competition. I went through paper after paper trying to come up with the perfect animal to paint. I went through animal after animal. Two days later I went to the zoo with my camera to find the perfect picture. After a couple of hours and many photos I saw what I needed. I started immediately over the next few weeks I work day after day trying to make it look better. Then my father be came sick and was rushed to the hospital he died before I was even able to say good bye. I went back and finished working on my painting but every hour that passed seem to get longer. After a few weeks I began feeling better. I had made the decision to purpose the girl that I had been dating for five years. My father had always liked her and had told me not to loose a woman that great. We were at a nice restaurant I remember holding my hand on the box all through diner. At the end I got down on one nee and asked her to marry her. With out hesitation her was no as I sat kneeled there I asked why. She told me that she was no longer in love with me and that for the past two years she had been dating someone else and was actually already engaged. All I could do was walk away. I went back to painting working to finish my art. I don’t know why but for some reason my emotions have shut down and nothing really bothers me. I had three weeks left till the time and I was just about finished I decided to take a break and see what one of my friends was doing. His wife picked up and the only thing she said after I asked where John was, was that he was dead. I went to my room and slept. I finished my art painting and was ready for the show. Now here I am waiting for the announcement. They opened the card he said my name I was so happy. A man walked up next to him an whispered something in his ear. He then announced that my painting was to be disqualified because it was airbrushed and not done in oil or acrylic paints. The prize went to some other man who had painted some butterflies. Now I’m sitting here in my bathroom the floor now a nice crimson red and the feeling of complete relaxation.

Salvador Dali "Soft Self Portrait"

Salvador Dali the 20th century’s most famous surrealist painter made his reputation in Europe and the United States. His art was influenced by the cubism of Picasso and the psychological theories of Freud. Famous for his flamboyant personality as well as his art, he worked in several media, including film: he collaborated with filmmaker Luis Buñuel and designed the dream sequence for Alfred Hitchcock's Spellbound (1945). The point of surrealism is to show a subconscious art form. The works of art that artists create are something that they may have seen in a dream. Maybe they have a strange imagination or maybe, they like too think of things that are out of the ordinary. Surrealists create things that are unrealistic by using a realistic object then by either placing it into a background that is strange and doesn’t make sense. They also create surreal art by taking an object and morphing it or obscuring it. In this self portrait by Salvador Dali which he has rightfully named Soft Self Portrait he has created his own face into a surrealistic painting. He has made his face into a soft doughy for that is resting on stick like crutches that are holding the pars of his face up. You can tell that it is him from the mustache that he is associated with having. It could be taken from this painting that he is trying to say that he has a soft side or maybe he was just bored and wanted to make his face look like it was melted. Dali himself styles his self-portrait as "an anti-psychological self-portrait, instead of painting the soul, or the inner of oneself, to paint solely the appearance, the cover, my soul's glove. This glove of my soul can be eaten and is even a little sharp, like highbred game; there for ants appear together with the fried bacon.

What is this? … Where am I? … What am I wearing? … Why does my head hurt? I can figure this out what is this horrible place? It’s so dark is why am I here how did I get here.
(JOHN!! … JOHN WHERE ARE YOU!!!)
Who is that? Are they looking for me is my name Pat? HELLO OVER HERE!!! Damn I can move this log is stuck on my leg. HELP ME PLEASE!! I can only hope that they here to help me. HEY IM RIGHT HERE! They see me they aren’t wearing the same armor but the symbol is the same as mine.
(HEY WHO ARE YOU!!)
I DON’T KNOW I CAN’T REMEMBER!!
(It’s Pat hey give me some help over her its Pat.)
My Name isn’t John?
(No you’re Curt Paterson we call you’re nickname is Pat.)
Why am I here? What is this…this armor?
(We’re in the middle of a war you are a soldier of the finial elite. That armor is given to those have gone through intense training and skeletal reconstruction. I is said that you have gone through the most painful operations in order to be made into become the greatest soldiers ever.)
What are you talking about?
(You don’t remember anything at all do you?)
No everything is gone.
(I guess that could be a good thing.)
I can feel my leg again. I don’t understand I’m a soldier? Can you tell me? How did I end up here?
(The last time that I saw you, you had just bean hit by a tank round. We thought you were dead. It’s good to see you sir.)
Sir why did you call me sir?
(You are our squad leader.)
If I’m a soldier shouldn’t I have a gun?
(We have an extra one that we can give you.)
A pistol this will have to do. Where did that come from it’s like I had no control over what was said.

Zing, Zing, Zing, Zing, Zinnnthiicck. His head just exploded blood spattered every where. TAKE COVER!! There it is again words spoken with out my control just instinct. Maybe the man who had just helped me and is now dead wasn’t lying maybe I am a soldier.

I looked over the logs that were stack in front of me I searched for where the shots had come from. Something on top of the logs caught my eye it was a helmet on back the name Curt Paterson. I reached over grabbed it and placed it on my head it clicked to the suit and the suit hissed. I felt the entire suit tighten it felt like it was apart of me. The suit ran through diagnostic checks for injuries in the blink of an eye. The suit then high lighted a part of the layout in front of me with the figure of something that looked like a beast. Just as I thought about being able to zoom in my face mast zoomed in at 30 meters I raised the pistol up into my view as I did a cross hair appeared on my face mask I aimed at the create my hand shook then the armor just froze my arm was stiff I squeezed off a shoot it entered through the creatures right eye and exited through the back of its skull. Just then I head this horrible cry from the direction that the first creature was in. ten more figures appeared on the radar in my helmet. At that point my conscious mind had seemed to shut down and now my body was acting purely on instincts. I move for ward to a closer position the other men followed and took up positions around me. I saw a group of five come from behind a large pile of branches and debris. I pulled the trigger five times.

Five targets down and five more to go.
(Sir what should we do.)
Move up and take position as close as you can but watch for enemies.
The other five are coming over the top this should be fast. The radar has static this could be bad.
Every one watch themselves they could be any where.
(Sir I’ve got contacts I’m movin … aaaahhhhhhh……HELP ME !!!…HELP ME!!! …THEY GOT ME!!!.)
Soldier can you hear me can you hear me.

My rage kicked in I ran to the point where I had last seen the creatures on my radar. If found the desecrated body of the soldier his head was no longer on his body. His body was completely mangled. I saw one the creatures heading back up the pile of debris. They were all about 6’ 5” and looked like something out of a science fiction novel. I activate the suits strength boost ability. I felt the muscles in my legs pulse the suit had boosted my strength by 5 times. I bolted up the pile grabbed the first creature by the throat and through it into another one they feel down the pile in a slump. I ran up to the next one and punched it in the face. Its face caved in and its blood spattered covering my suit. I grabbed the next two who had started running at me by their heads and smashed them together. Then everything went black.

I woke up 20 years later in a hospital with that still as my only memory I still don’t know what happened, or who I was.
